I am looking forward to giving a keynote presentation at @PyDataParis 2024, September 25-26, Cité des Sciences. This will be an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of "noise" and predictive uncertainty in machine learning applications. https://t.co/2xFhyYfuFL 3.4K views · 30 likes · 11 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →

Looking forward to @jupytercon in Paris next month! Vincent Maladiere and I will give a full day tutorial on predictive Survival Analysis and Competing Risks modeling with a Gradient Boosting model assembled from generic scikit-learn building blocks. https://t.co/TeULnQK2DR 10K views · 50 likes · 12 reposts · 3 replies Open on X →

In the afternoon we will also show how to use @IbisData & @duckdb to efficiently "sessionize" an event log to extract time-to-failure training data implicitly encoded in heartbeat-style events. This tutorial will be very hands-on but also packed with methodological insights. 2.1K views · 19 likes · 2 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →

Apparently any tweet that contains the URL of my sigmoid social account (see my profile) gets blocked today. Such anticompetitive and censorship practices will only lead to further migrations to alternative platforms. 8.4K views · 29 likes · 11 reposts · 3 replies Open on X →

Interested in exploring #mastodon? A few hints: first choose a small instance related to your topic of interest, e.g. https://t.co/NCMa8rhPhx for ML research, https://t.co/vgqdVRd1gM for open source development, https://t.co/iJGIA8FkuQ for infra / security hackers... 0 views · 76 likes · 18 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →

Watching #AcademicTwitter fleeing to mastodon as part of #TwitterMigration... like the elves fleeing Middle Earth to Valinor in anticipation of the shadows of misinformation Sauron and its hordes of harassers. 0 views · 24 likes · 5 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
