@Brady_H I don’t think 2 is supported by any strong evidence. Alcohol is a poison. Any amount of it is worse than none. But that’s fine, it’s worth it to have a good time.

@Brady_H I’ve been a 6.5-7 hour per night woman for years. Feel fine most days and raised 3 kids that say! Lift and run 5-6 days a week and run a business

My somewhat controversial health opinions:
• Most people probably do not need 8 hours of sleep per night. 6 to 7 hours is likely enough.
• A few alcoholic drinks per week is probably not any more harmful than zero alcoholic drinks per week.
• Cardiovascular fitness is a

@Brady_H We should definitely make a video on why so many top class runners are turning to cycling for some of their training.
We made a video last year on why cyclists aren't great at running.

@Brady_H How do you know the running limit? Is it a feeling, a history of problems if you exceed it or something else?

@Brady_H Same. At age 60, I cap my running - even for marathon training is 60 miles/wk. But I can add 8-10 hrs/cycling without injury risk (as long as I build slowly).

Most biking I do is because I’ve hit the (current) limit of my running.
I’m at 70–80 miles per week. The fitness I want is probably that of a 100–120 mile per week guy… so biking is the substitute for that.
fwiw I think I benefit more from 4–6 hours of biking per week than I

@Brady_H Would you have got even more benefit if you had spent the time running, or were you up at the limit of how much running you could do?

@Brady_H The bias exists because building endurance is the easiest piece of the puzzle. And the one that impresses non runners the most because the thought of covering 26 miles on foot is unfathomable to them.
So lazy people can simply do some basic training and be able to cover

@Brady_H The longer the distance the more you can hide a poor performance because, "I ran lots of miles"

Endurance running has an (unfortunate) bias that longer = better/ more impressive.
It’s why the marathon is the “gold standard” achievement.
But running a fast 5k, 10k, or half marathon can be equally as impressive. And just as (if not more) fun to train for.

Female runners with a greater weekly running volume burned more calories during exercise but had LOWER non-exercise activity energy expenditures and a lower resting and sleeping metabolism. https://t.co/RynBrtyAfB

@Brady_H You'd also have to weight train for at least 60 minutes every day forever too. So not sure what his point is there.

@Brady_H As somebody weird who has dieted down to sub-10%, built an appreciable amount of muscle that my appearance has changed, and has run half marathons, has a V02 max in the 50s, and did competitive cycling. I can say with 100% certainty if you want to eat more... run.

Wow. Air pollution slows marathon finish times... by a lot!
For every 5-microgram-per-cubic-meter increase in nitrogen dioxide (a traffic-related air pollutant), men's and women's finish times slowed by ~8 minutes.
The biggest effects were among mid-pack, recreational, and http
