Our survival responses are not character flaws. Yes, we are responsible for how we interact w/ & move through the world-- but we can only make true "choices" when we unflinchingly accept what we're dealing w/ & forgive ourselves for where we are. No shame, no shade. 521 views · 14 likes · 3 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
Chances are you're going to try to do too much. That's just what we complex survivors do. Between shame & hyper independence & being used to doing hard things utterly alone, over functioning is often our default setting. And we can't just throw that into reverse after decades. 2.4K views · 107 likes · 17 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →

Managing the intrusive thoughts that CPTSD wedges into our day gets exhausting. No need to deny it. Acknowledging how tiring this is doesn't make you "weak" or mean you "have" to quit. It's reality, & we can recognize it w/ realism & self-compassion-- & gently, firmly carry on. 3.6K views · 87 likes · 13 reposts · 3 replies Open on X →

If you're a CPTSD survivor you're likely going to find yourself reactive to a whole spectrum of things that have nothing to do w/ you. You're not "crazy;" that's just what happens. No shame. You manage it like you manage your vulnerability to sunburn. We're all gingers here. 5.1K views · 184 likes · 16 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
The best minds in mental health aren't the docs. They're the trauma survivors who have had to figure out how to stay alive for years with virtually no help. Wanna learn how to psychologically survive under unfathomable stress? Talk to abuse survivors. 0 views · 13.3K likes · 3.6K reposts · 638 replies Open on X →
