Speaking of weekends... Presto exists partly because another thing I've been building needs proving to be fast, in the browser, for a lot of people at once :) That one drops soon. If you want to see it land, follow along my weekend project's journey to MAGA (Making Aztec Great 134 views · 5 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →

To be VERY clear: Presto is not affiliated with @AztecLabs_ or the @aztecFND. It's my own experiment on how I think Aztec will actually get used. Weekend project, early days, use at your own risk. 148 views · 10 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →

If you use Aztec apps: get Presto. macOS, Linux, Windows. Free. Then open the playground and watch the same proof twice. https://t.co/wyTJC8E0z9 https://t.co/U519LaNMWw https://t.co/s3LmZD5oWb

It's not "trust every website" either. Sites ask first, MetaMask-style, deny by default. Encrypted connection on by default. Loopback only, your witness never leaves the machine. You pick how much CPU it gets. https://t.co/g2prdIQ618

And it compounds. Someone installs Presto for one app. Every other app that made the 3-line change is now faster for them too. Nobody had to coordinate. More apps adopt it → more worth installing. More people install it → more worth adopting. https://t.co/aOtJdj7qIr

There is no downside. User doesn't have Presto? The SDK falls back to WASM. Same speed, same experience they were going to get anyway. Nothing breaks, nothing to explain. Best case they're 9× faster. Worst case, nothing changed. https://t.co/kAVXyUSP9E

Not an @aztecnetwork tx but a @NoirLang circuit? Same 3 lines. PrestoUltraHonkBackend is a drop-in for bb.js's UltraHonkBackend. Same methods, same ProofData, native when Presto is there, WASM when it isn't. https://t.co/W2S5uygxHh

The upgrade is 3 lines: npm i + import PrestoProver + hand it to your embedded wallet. Every transaction now proves natively when Presto is running. Nothing else in your app changes. https://t.co/sODts20AxD

Why did I built it? In a private app, proving is the part you wait for. In the browser that means WASM, and browsers throttle WASM. Same proof, same laptop, the native prover is just faster. One token flow in the playground: 38.4s in-browser, 4.1s with Presto. https://t.co/3IP1

The bet behind it: I think the future is wallets in apps, not apps in wallets. The embedded wallet wins. The app owns the whole flow, including the prover. And if the app owns the prover, the app can swap the prover. That's the whole trick. https://t.co/NAXlTB04Z0
