In addition to the new PolarWx tropical cyclone archive, I'm slowly starting to backfill satellite data for past storms (Melissa 2025 shown below) - plus with 4 new default colormaps to choose from:

Hurricane Lowell remains right of track of the latest NHC forecast — even following adjustments of the forecast track to the east with each update.
Landfall in Hawaii is *not* expected, but these trends have prompted a hurricane warning in western Hawaii for significant impacts.

@burgwx Oh shit! Glad I got the very last generator on the island, but the last time a hurricane like this got that close to Kauai it destroyed 80% of the housing!

It remains to be seen how far the east shift can continue - so far Lowell is on track with NHC and most guidance, but the NHC forecast diverges beyond tonight as other models show more of a NE storm motion. https://t.co/mXCwmKsxoM

For context on worst-case scenarios - the HAFS-B model, which is the closest to Hawaii as of this evening's guidance, brings an intense line of potentially tornadic cells to the western islands, with hurricane-force wind in Ni'ihau & dangerously close to Kauai. https://t.co/Dy2ps

If it seems like the NHC forecast for Hurricane Lowell shifted closer to Hawaii, you're not imagining things - there has been a clear eastward shift over the last 2 days.
Perhaps more concerningly, the NHC forecast is actually *west* of all models, which continue trending east.

This is the first stage of the new PolarWx release.
The next stage in a couple of weeks will add more features to the tropical viewer & revamp the real-time model viewer.
Any feedback and bug reports are welcome!

6⃣ Classic viewer is still there... sort of
If the interactive layout is too much and you prefer a simple one-page layout, click on "Lite Viewer" to get as close of an experience to my old tropical website as possible:

4⃣ Interactive ensemble correlation matrix
Speaking of ensembles... the correlation matrix was confusing for some to interpret, so I made it fully interactive with explainers (left) - plus you can click on any box to actually see the individual members (right): https://t.co/1RcU
