The first graph, focused on SW Louisiana, shows a spike in COVlD ER visits. Cumulatively, it's among the least-boosted areas of the US, as far as we know. Layered precautions are best, and staying up with boosters may keep you out of the ER or morgue.

I assure you that COVlD denialism among scientists is vastly worse than you might believe it to be.

In March, I applied for a 5-yr internal position to elevate the discussion of COVlD prevention, Long COVlD, and the challenges patients and families face dealing with chronic and serious illness. Happy to begin!

Hawai'i is in the midst of a large COVlD outbreak.
Levels on the Big Island are estimated at approximately double that of the national peak of the largest COVlD surge (BA.1 Omicron, winter 2021-22). Those may get revised down, but levels are high across the state, and Kauai htt

Use the PMC interactive map to track localized data.
This week, we added the line graph and a new shortcut (https://t.co/dTDXE2gjki). It works best on a computer or large tablet.
If #SaltingTheVibes, send screenshots to others showing their county. 😷👍

Nationally, transmission is at its highest since March 9th.
Exposure risk increases with increased interactions, but varies by state. Well-fitting N95 respirators, ASHRAE 241 air hygiene, boosters, and testing all reduce infection risk.

Barring a major retroactive correction (30% chance), we have entered the 13th "wave," which we define as >500,000 estimated new daily infections.
We estimate just having hit 100 million infections on the year (US), in an atypically low year thus far.

Here's a link to the full book, a newer edition than what I own. The information on defense mechanisms begins on textbook page 100.
Please let me know if there's a more accessible alt-text solution that you would prefer so I can do better next time.
