Bernie gets the danger from AGI/ASI in a way much of the left has yet to notice. The focus must be on dehumanization, loss of human control & even human obsolescence—and the misanthropic billionaires cheering this on—not on small-beer distractions like data center construction. 11.8K views · 225 likes · 30 reposts · 23 replies Open on X →

The naked misanthropy from some in the AI space is jaw dropping. But the green left, currently going all-in on anti-AI organizing, will struggle to combat such anti-humanism given how widespread their own “We are the virus”misanthropy and critiques of anthropocentrism have been. 7.7K views · 143 likes · 19 reposts · 11 replies Open on X →

Francis Fukuyama makes this very point about the problem with utilitarian thinking (that so dominates AI discourse, although FF was talking with regard to biotech): “it’s an overly simplified view of human nature to reduce all of human motivation to the pursuit of pleasure and 3K views · 32 likes · 2 reposts · 4 replies Open on X →

“Why are people not happier about A.I.? It might cure cancer” is a very one-dimensional view of human beings. It assumes that humans want only material comfort, disregarding their fears around loss of agency and purpose. I’ve just this week landed a deal for my third book, a radical defense of humanity as the most precious thing in the universe, contra the misanthropy of the green left (“We are the virus”) and the tech right (“We are the beta test for AI”). The book aims to construct a secular 31.4K views · 123 likes · 17 reposts · 11 replies Open on X →
