The bride walked into our photography studio alone.
No fiancé.
No bridesmaids.
No wedding dress.
She placed a framed engagement photo on the counter and said:
“I need you to remove him.”
My coworker asked quietly:
“From the picture?”
She nodded.
“From every picture.”

My sister slid it toward me.
I laughed.
“Absolutely not.”
“You're my boyfriend.”
“That relationship ended thirty seconds ago.”
She pushed it closer.
“You said we've been together seven years.”
“Apparently I wasted seven years.”
She started laughing.
The waiter looked

She looked directly at Aaron.
“I shouldn't need a boyfriend for you to accept no.”
That table went completely quiet.
Aaron tried to explain that he was only being persistent because he really liked her.

Aaron frowned.
“Seven years?”
My sister smiled painfully.
“He means seven months.”
I nodded.
“Long months.”
Another kick.
Then Aaron asked where we'd met.
I said the gym.
My sister said college.
We both stopped.
Aaron leaned back.
“You two aren't dating.”
Silence.

I sat down because, at that point, I needed to know how bad this situation was.
The man introduced himself as Aaron.
Apparently, he'd asked my sister out three times.
She'd politely declined three times.
That afternoon, he'd shown up at the restaurant where she was meeting a

My sister called me and said:
“I need you to be my boyfriend for ten minutes.”
I checked the phone.
Definitely my sister.
“You want to try that sentence again?”
“No. Just get to the restaurant.”
Twenty minutes later, I walked in.
She immediately grabbed my hand.
Then I

My fiancée asked me to meet her at a café and bring the engagement ring.
Not wear it.
Bring it.
She was already sitting there when I arrived.
I put the box on the table.
She looked at it for a long time.
Then pushed it back toward me.
“I need you to propose again.”

Every Friday at exactly 5:30 PM, someone walked into our supermarket and bought ONE banana.
Nothing else.
Same time.
Same checkout lane.
But never the same person.
Week one: a college student.
Week two: an older man.
Week three: a woman in business clothes.
By week six, I

Instead, the building manager opened the community room.
He brought extension cords.
Lucas supplied the hotspot.
Everyone got free access until the internet returned.
In exchange, the manager gave Lucas something better:
The building's old laptop they were planning to

He looked at the crowd.
“What’s going on?”
Someone explained.
The manager stared at Lucas.
Then asked:
“How many people connected?”
“Seventeen.”
“And your hotspot handled all of them?”
Lucas nodded.
The manager pulled out his phone.

She picked up the sign.
“You're charging our neighbors for your hotspot?”
Lucas tried defending himself.
“Supply and demand.”
“You're fourteen.”
“Entrepreneurship doesn't have an age limit.”
I had to turn around because I was laughing.

His name was Lucas.
Apparently his phone still had a strong data connection, so he'd turned on his hotspot.
Remote workers were desperate.
One guy paid $6 for 90 minutes.
A woman paid $4 just to send two files.
By 9 AM, Lucas had made $38.
Then his mother came downstairs.

At 8:03 AM, our entire apartment building lost internet.
By 8:10, people were standing in the hallway like civilization had collapsed.
Then a teenager from Apartment 4B walked downstairs holding a cardboard sign:
WI-FI — $2 FOR 30 MINUTES.
Behind him was a line of twelve
