thGOLD and thUSD both run on gold leasing. The borrowers are refiners, bullion dealers, and jewelers financing inventory, most of them in Asia.
Once a year IGC puts that market in one room.
Four days of meetings with the people who actually move the metal. https://t.co/s48Wpl5d

4/ It’s also the market thUSD is built on. We wrote about the century-old mechanics of this industry below.

2/ Their model: inventory stays constant.
Sell 50 kilos today, buy 50 kilos back the same day. They hold nearly a tonne of gold at any time (~$100M+ by their own account), and the position never changes.
The profit is the margin on each sale, not a bet on the gold price.

4/ We're stringent about what we put inside thBILL. ULTRA holds an AAAf/S1+ rating from S&P. FILQ holds an Aaa-mf assessment from Moody's.
The institutional foundation under thBILL, and under thUSD, Theo's onchain dollar, just got materially stronger.
