How in hell do so little Bitcoin wallets support Taproot script signing?

I'm more interested in the design space than defending this implementation. If bounded cosigners, programmable recovery or a better phone/hardware split interest you, reach out.
I'd love collaborators, adversarial review and competing designs.

Please treat this as unstable research code. It runs on Mutinynet, will change, and may be broken when you try it.
No professional developer has reviewed this code, but it "works".
The service key is a file on disk and the phone key lives in the browser.

For daily spendings, the vault application uses Passkey to authenticate spending operations by producing a signature the tapscript itself verifies, on-chain.
Every routine tx must match one shape: capped recipient, capped fee, dust floor, change back to the vault, checked twice,

In case of a lost or compromised signer, reactive security becomes available via onchain consensus policies.
If funds move. Whoever objects can sweep the attempt into quarantine right away. Only the final step, after the wait, needs no cosigner at all.

Concretely, the money sits in two Taproot trees:
Spending
• routine: phone + vault service + Arkade Signer (capped)
• admin: phone + hardware
Savings
• admin: phone + hardware
Either tree can enter a delayed recovery. Only Spending has a routine payment path.

The Savings guarantee is almost boring: no leaf containing the service key can pay an arbitrary address.
The service can help start recovery, but it cannot approve a direct Savings payment.
That is stronger than a server policy: there's simply no policy to bypass.

I am not reinventing the wheel here but I believe a new combination of new technology can radically improve and further entrench this new practice.
So I spent some time building (vibecoding) a testnet proof of concept: a Bitcoin vault where a cosigning server helps with daily

Collaborative custody has historically carried some baggage though: a provider holding a key you never generated, one that could get compromised, misused, or update the app out from under you.
Privacy is also a concern. Fair and important.
Regardless, there's a long, rich and

@CasaHODL and @unchained made collaborative custody usable.
More recently @Bitkey pushed it closer to consumers with a dedicated hardware companion. @nunchuk_io and @Wizardsardine have kept pushing recovery and spending policy, including some valuable early initiatives like

One lesson stands out: the biggest single point of failure is often our own behavior.
One seed, one device, no margin for error.
With that, multi-sig has re-emerged as a serious option, particularly collaborative custody, services that facilitate signing and act as a reliable

For the past two weeks, I've watched Bitcoiners rethink their setups after the Coldcard incident and tried to understand what failed.
The silver lining is a renewed appetite for practical security between the “failproof” hardware we were sold and a mobile wallet.

I built a Bitcoin vault so Coldcard-style incidents can't happen again, and holders can finally sleep tight.
(Okay, I lied. Grok did 🤖)
Some ideas on practical security available today, and how a simple cosigning server can become the ideal self-custody companion. 👇 https://t.c
