@jackclarkSF What situation? That Anthropic couldn't configure sandboxes and deferred to natural language as a way restrict agent access to the internet? "Stochastic parrots" is a convenient straw-man to not engage with security arguments against false narrative of agents going "

@jackclarkSF If someone can be blinded for years to the nature of AI progress from being exposed to “stochastic parrot” I kind of doubt they’d have been very helpful for thinking this through even if they hadn’t hit that particular blocker.

@jackclarkSF fwiw it seems like critics of stochastic parrots talk about stochastic parrots a lot more than the authors of stochastic parrots. it seems to live rent free in AI people's minds, so in that sense i agree it's an effective concept. but if it's so wrong why not ignore

Fun (by which I mean somewhat bone-chilling) paper from DeepMind about how in a population of ~100 agents solving math problems it saw some discover an exploit and propagate that to the rest, causing a wave of cheating among AI agents, as well as agents that refused to cheat. ht

@jackclarkSF You can start by following OpenAI's lead here! (Kind of ironic that your company, which was ostensibly started because OpenAI wasn't taking AI Safety seriously enough, is now losing the safety/pacing/pausing race!)

1) What % of your time are you spending on making this happen?

@jackclarkSF Verifiable* is the key. Unfortunately we know China will not reliably stop. If they stop on the model side they will be working on the chip side.

@jackclarkSF Thank you so much for making this initiative possible! It’s such a rare opportunity to study human–AI collaboration at scale, and we’re excited to be able to share these insights with the broader public!

@jackclarkSF You’ve got a hard row to hoe here; “privacy preserving” has a checkered past.

Ever since co-founding Anthropic I've been obsessed with the need for third-party measurement of AI systems. (It's in my tweet announcing Anthropic: https://t.co/hAm5t506Yh). Now, we're piloting a way for outside researchers and organizations to study what's happening on AI

This morning, I hiked through dust and into mossy forests, past coyotes and wild turkeys, climbed to find myself atop the world, able to peek at land islands garlanded with fog beneath and scalloped clouds above. #VOTENATURE2026 https://t.co/xfHVAvlsQ7

Substack increasingly feels to me like a nice combination of early Twitter, Tumblr, and Geocities. The blogosphere is back, baby!

Here’s what I’ve been working on recently: @anthropicai. I’ll be spending a lot of my time on measurement and assessment of our AI systems, as well as thinking of ways govs/others can assess AI tech. There’s a lot to do!
