Odd of you to omit the part of my CV where I was a financial journalist and then started my own business?

Gawd, @sebastiansalek on @TalkTV right now talking econonic tripe. A musician & another who turned to law. A Labour councillor barely 30 without a clue on how the world of economics works. Thumbs up for worker rights from day one an ideology from someone who doesn't run a company

The NHS just had a record summer.
That’s despite resident doctors striking in July. But no one is talking about it!

@sebastiansalek Imagine thinking that a law protecting free speech is a ‘terrible law’ and still believing you’re one of the ‘good guys’.

If you’re into this kind of thing, I write a newsletter explaining the bills MPs are debating in Parliament each week.

6. The Rwanda plan 🗑️
Sunak’s inhumane project to ship refugees to Rwanda was ruled unlawful by the Supreme Court.
Labour scrapped it in July, shortly after winning the election. The adults are finally back in the room.

4. Fining universities that don’t promote free speech 🗑️
Sunak’s Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act required universities and student unions to promote free speech or face possible fines.
Technically, the law hasn’t been repealed, but Labour says it won’t enforce it.

5. Banning Troubles-related inquests 🗑️
Sunak’s Legacy Act ended historical inquests in Northern Ireland. All main political parties in NI opposed it, and a court found part of it breached human rights.
Labour wants to repeal it “as soon as we can.”

2. Forcing strikers to go to work 🗑️
Sunak went even further. The Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Act allows some bosses to force staff to work on strike days.
But it didn’t resolve a single dispute, so it’s also going through the Employment Rights Bill.

1. Making it harder to strike 🗑️
Cameron’s Trade Union Act...
• Raised the voting thresholds for strike action
• Increased notice periods for strikes
• Introduced new picketing restrictions
Labour is scrapping it in its Employment Rights Bill.

3. ‘No-fault’ evictions 🗑️
Section 21 of Thatcher’s Landlord and Tenant Act allows landlords to evict tenants without giving a reason. Last year, nearly 26,000 households faced homelessness as a result.
The Renters’ Rights Bill repeals section 21, banning no-fault evictions.

If you’re a Tory, cover your eyes.
Because as well as making lots of new laws, Labour is scrapping old Conservative ones too.
