In some regions, maybe, for a while.
But the cost is lower refinery output, pricier gasoline, and a shock to allies who rely on U.S. barrels.

But a refinery can't just make diesel.
Every barrel of crude comes out as gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and more.
Block diesel exports and Gulf refiners are stuck with fuel they suddenly can't sell.

That's the Petroline, Saudi Arabia's East-West line: roughly 1,200 km from Abqaiq to Yanbu, built to move up to 7 million barrels a day.
It's the ONLY major export route that skips the Strait of Hormuz.
