@Thefrugalgay11 Our cleaners charge $25 for the time and effort to go to the post office and ship the item, plus whatever shipping costs are incurred. This helps deter people from asking for dumb replaceable shit to be shipped, like a pair of swim trunks, or ski gloves. I also 260 views · 2 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →

@Thefrugalgay11 I left a folder with our passports and travel itinerary on the counter of a VRBO. Total panic at the airport with not enough time to go back. Gal who cleaned the place dropped them into an overnight envelope. She asked for nothing in return but we sent her $50. 144 views · 3 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →

@Thefrugalgay11 The $16 is the cheap part. The real cost is someone going back into the unit between turns, digging through the lost-and-found bin, and a post office run. Most hosts eat all of that and then get annoyed about it. Charge the postage, don't apologize for it. 243 views · 2 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →

Pro tip: If you leave something behind in an Airbnb and ask the host to find it and ship it back… Don’t be a dick about paying $16.10 for shipping. That’s the actual cost. No markup. 8.1K views · 72 likes · 1 reposts · 12 replies Open on X →

@Thefrugalgay11 Basically what @amandaorson and I did. Our first home was a gut job in Philly. Total disaster that we did ourselves over a couple of years. Stayed in it for a while (it was dirt cheap), saved, sold it, and moved up...and continued improving. Your advice is solid. 4.6K views · 26 likes · 2 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →

@Thefrugalgay11 I love the ambition and the life you built for yourself Tom. As always, incredibly inspiring. If I were starting over today at 41. Here is what I'd do. 1. I'd stop whining about how expensive everything is. 2. I'd get a part-time 2nd job, or I'd do Rover. I'd start listing unneeded items I owned on fb marketplace or eBay. & I'd stack cash. 3. I'd locate the lowest htt
