@adamjohnsonCHI it's probably worth acknowledging that the degree of involvement by Claude & other LLMs in US military kill chains is a bit overblown for, essentially, marketing purposes. the pre-existing Maven system was responsible for not identifying the school

The interviewer followed up asking why Claude had missed that the elementary school had a website that his “AI” didn’t bother to index and Amodei shifted the blame to an unspecified “human” and moved on to his patented handwringing about T2 hypotheticals https://t.co/WRwubFErhf

Ok but this already happened, Claude was used to kill 130 children when the US bombed a school in Minab, Iran on Feb 28 2026, and when asked about Anthropic’s role in the attack Amodei said it was “a use case that doesn't even violate our red lines” so maybe follow up on that?? h

🇺🇸 Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, on the weight of responsibility on AI leaders' shoulders:
"I’m made fun of on social media because our model’s biology safeguards are too strong, and biology students complain... they make jokes [they] can’t use the model.
I would rather they make

The “8 buildings being destroyed” framing is because the NYT article is specifically about the health impacts of buildings being destroyed. I assure you the average reader of my tweet is not under the impression they spontaneously combusted on 9/11.

Reducing 9/11 to “8 buildings being destroyed” to score a comparison is grotesque. It was a coordinated terrorist attack that murdered nearly 3,000 people and poisoned thousands more.
And the Gaza war didn’t begin in a vacuum. Hamas started it with the October 7 massacre. That

“serious offers from Hamas to release all civilian hostages unconditionally in the days right after Oct 7… which Israeli officials reportedly rebuffed” yes because the captives provided the endless pretext for mass killing and ethnic cleansing. Which was obvious at the time.

Hey Jeremey can you or anyone at JStreet define a “Palestinian state”? Would love some clarity here since this handwaving goal is so load-bearing to continued military and economic support for Israel. Can Palestine have bilateral trade and military alliances with Iran? Or Russia?

The U.K. and other of Israel’s closest allies are making clear that the status quo is no longer acceptable: Israel must choose between permanent occupation and growing international isolation, or a future in which a viable, independent Palestinian state lives alongside a secure

UK’s settlement sanctions are “made to target the bat, not the batter” is correct. This is busywork. Until the root cause of Israeli violence and dispossession is addressed—the fundamental logic of zionism—it’s just endless cosmetic gestures for western liberal PR consumption

Personally I like the part where Miliband spends 65% of the video morally condemning Hamas/Hezbollah/Iran and reaffirming every premise of zionism, avoids real leverage like full BDS then magnanimously pledges vague support for a demilitarized, fragmented Palestinian bantustan

@adamjohnsonCHI Just received my copy, lest you think that we are all book burners and censors down under.
The irony is lost on them but it's telling that the local Israel lobby sought to prove your thesis by trying to remove evidence of how the lobby - through the media - sold

@adamjohnsonCHI I was No. 3 in the Reservations Queue on Tuesday - now up to 15. I'll be buying it as well but as you write, and it is the case, there's a cynical, despicable and disturbing wave of free speech crackdowns in the name of Bondi. To that we say:
Yeah, nah✌️

Activists in Australia started a petition to restore my book to the Waverley library.
Clearly my book is not, in and of itself, that important but it’s part of a wave of free speech crackdowns exploiting the Bondi attack to snuff out pro-Palestine speech

@yeselson Theres a reason the NYT was chosen and not other outlets, and it's because the NYT is routinely the worst, most cynical, most casually racist and high leverage source of incitement and selective empathy in media. At some point they need to be sufficiently shamed as an i
