Oh no! X is starting to do that bullshit again where it tricks me into looking at the hateful “For You” tab! Stop it! Stop it! Fuck you! Didn’t I already install some kind of patch to prevent X from being able to do this to me? https://t.co/zvQEsX2lkq

Please read what I said about Zcash two years ago, when its price chart looked like this. I still stand by every word. https://t.co/6NhVI1jHuy https://t.co/85FLR1Kk85

ZEC going from $0 to $17bn in less than a decade is important, because Zcash is important for society. A civilization requires three coordination primitives to survive and prosper: communication, computation, and money. Zcash is money. Money for an infinite civilization. https://

@zooko I used to be against private money, because I worried criminals would use it for horrible purposes.
But then I realized: oh shit, if all transactions are visible on a public blockchain, then criminals can track down my IRL location in real time when I make a purchase at a

@zooko As an old-school Cypherpunk, I can completely understand the instinctive aversion to KYC/AML.
But I have always believed that what makes Zcash great goes far beyond the sophistication of its privacy technology.
In fact, one of the things I value most about Zcash is its

@zooko @LazPieper Yet the SDNY argues that bank accounts and custodial exchanges, which collect personal information, are perfectly adequate privacy tools.

Neeraj is angry, and rightly so. People are being harmed on a vast scale, and criminals are being given a boost, by stupid laws and regulations.

We are long, long, long overdue to reduce the amount of KYC we do as a society.
It doesn’t stop crime. It enables mass surveillance of the innocent by the tyrannical. And, perhaps most of all, it enriches hackers with troves of intimate personal data.

I *think* what's going on here is that one guy's AI, possibly with the guy's actual human help, is talking to this other (human) guy on a Zcash discussion forum thread and using it basically like you'd use a github PR. And it's working! https://t.co/I4pKXaDUpr https://t.co/l2EFWb

This part isn't 100% confirmed yet, but apparently the criminals have been stealing all of these driver's licenses (for the last year) from a company that AML/KYC laws and age-verification laws require you to send a copy of your driver's license to. https://t.co/PxrkYFFaSO

I'm grateful to the Zcash holders and supporters who have made Shielded Labs possible with their financial and intellectual support: Vitalik Buterin, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, the Anoma Foundation, and anonymous donors. And to Jason McGee for doing this with me. 🔚

It will further strengthen security for Zcash users. The Proof-of-Stake mechanism and the Proof-of-Work mechanism provide two layers of defense, making it safer than a pure Proof-of-Stake network or pure Proof-of-Work network. ⤵️

It will provide *finality*. Finality protects users against rollback attacks, reduces wait times for some kinds of transactions, and allows safer two-way bridges to other networks. ⤵️

Crosslink will deliver many immediate benefits. It will allow people to stake their ZEC, thus increasing demand for ZEC. It will also reduce the supply of ZEC by locking up staked ZEC. ⤵️

Over the next several years, this downward price pressure is going to ease because the rate of new coin creation is going to reduce. This price effect is critical to our mission because the Zcash holders are the core supporters of that mission. ⤵️

Zcash’s coin-creation schedule follows Bitcoin’s. Every four years the rate of new coin creation is halved, ensuring that only 21 million ZEC coins will eventually exist. When the second Zcash halving occurs, this November, three quarters of all ZEC will have been created. ⤵️ htt

At the same time, the ongoing creation of new ZEC over these first eight years has put downward pressure on the price of ZEC. (A similar thing happened to Zcash’s predecessor, Bitcoin, during its first eight years.) ⤵️ https://t.co/qMQKVT3cZR
