This whole last week reminds me of running marathons in high school.
I would slow my coach and training partners down by pleading.
Even that usually didn’t work. :-)
If you start with the assumption that you are fucked then anything other than getting fucked is a win.

I don’t usually disagree with Elon on technology issues.
But most I talk with in San Francisco sees OpenAI winning.
So there is huge incentives for everyone who isn’t Sam Altman to call for slowing down.
And now that everyone is freaked out by potential existential threats it

Well, one of about 10 that the @theresidency runs.
And you meet some of its entrepreneurs working in making robots learn faster and work together better.

The last time the "we're all going to die" alarmists won was anti-nuclear energy movement, which cost tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of lives from the greater air pollution of burning fossil fuels for electricity.

Spent a long time at the party tonight getting a college level course in AI from a guy doing theoretical machine learning.
Basically is studying how neural networks learn.
He told me the most exciting thing lately is that the neurons move in large parameter LLMs.

@Scobleizer the business threshold may be less about a universal success rate and more about workflow economics: failure loss, intervention cost, downtime, and recovery. lower raw success can still create value when misses are detectable, bounded, and cheap to recover from.
