I was called to something else.
To use written words to influence people.
At that juncture, a new opportunity presented itself.
As I was invited to ghostwrite a book!
A book with a difference you could say.
A travelogue in one sense.

In my case, the mentor was the Holy Spirit.
Prompting me to undertake another journey.
An odd one in one sense.
Given my depression-inducing

But then, the spirit moves where it will!

In the Hero's Journey model outlined by Joseph Campbell.
The initiation stage of the journey.
Includes the appearance of a mentor to help the initiate.
Along the way and to facilitate the next steps to take.
This mentor can take many forms.

seemed a perfect metaphor
for starting to set new boundaries in life.
When I could eventually move forward again.

That stark realization was the start of my journey.
A metaphorical journey for sure
but also a physical journey.
As we'll see next.
'Separation' proved a very hard taskmaster.
Separated from mainstream life,
separated from work,
separated
from the norms of society.

Carl Jung's amazing insight on depression:

Campbell's model starts with the concept of 'Separation'.
That we have to separate ourselves FROM society.
Either voluntarily or involuntarily for the journey to begin.
In my case, the 'separation' resulted from a breakdown in 2016. https://t.co/uMrtGrCMfx

Separating ourselves from every day society.
Means to go on a journey to find this hero.
And return to share his/her qualities with other people.

Joseph Campbell taught us that the Hero's Journey
was not reserved for a few select individuals in life.
But it should be a driving force for everyone.
Irrespective of our status in life.
To fully individuate ourselves.
