China doesn’t want to be a “winner” from conflicts as some in the West have falsely speculated . Its vast interests are best served by peace and stability and no wars. https://t.co/5nKd5rO8XK https://t.co/IL2FbZNdxG 12.2K views · 66 likes · 11 reposts · 7 replies Open on X →

I interviewed Charles Kupchan after his book How Enemies Become Friends, was published in 2011. His talk today shows his wisdom is higher than Blinken and others by a lot. If Dem wins 2028, he would be a great Secretary of State. Just listen.https://t.co/XWzfSzuuot 6.8K views · 24 likes · 2 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →

This speech by John L Thornton is still brilliant today. He is more a China expert than those in Brookings, CSIS, Hoover and Harvard. https://t.co/o6Ekfva86I 10.4K views · 28 likes · 7 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
@chenweihua Once rode Amtrak Boston to Chicago in winter. I remembering it taking 3 days tho perhaps it only *felt* that way. Def took 2. Electric froze up--no lights, no heat, no flushing toilets. Put us up in cheap hotels in Chicago b/c we missed connection. Ni-ni-nightmare! 😖 146 views · 0 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
@chenweihua I took the train from Seattle to Portland a few years ago. It is has beautiful scenery and I recommend it to everyone. It is a bit slow, but that doesn’t matter if you’re there for the view. 232 views · 1 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
@chenweihua When I lived in the US in the 90s, I took a ride from SoCal to Oregon and it took a full day (with some stoppage caused by snow). Not only have their train services not improved since then, it has gotten worse. 370 views · 2 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
Chinese won’t believe that Amtrak train from LA to Seattle (1,800 km) would take 35 hours. I couldn’t believe it when told by one who just rode on the beautiful route. China’s high speed train will get you there in 5-6 hours. I did ride from Chicago to San Francisco 20 yrs ago. 10.6K views · 233 likes · 21 reposts · 6 replies Open on X →
This cold noodle with shredded chicken is a feast to the eyes when I tried it in a Sichuan restaurant on Shanghai’s Huaihai Road. 鸡丝凉面 https://t.co/QcUDbaaMqr 8.2K views · 113 likes · 3 reposts · 3 replies Open on X →
Much more to be said on this topic. China fundamentally is not an interventionist power like the US. Wars are not solution or the best solution. China’s top priority is to take care of its 1.4b, a big task that only India can probably comprehend. 4.4K views · 47 likes · 2 reposts · 6 replies Open on X →
@chenweihua Quite right. There is a fundamental reason the Western hegemonic view feels certain from one side and almost unnecessary from the Chinese: we evolved along drastically different paths, to the extent that it is very difficult for western mindset to grapple with the Chi 58.3K views · 114 likes · 15 reposts · 36 replies Open on X →
