@esapekkasalonen With software, I can give the conductors what they prefer. I prefer C scores, but have been beaten into submission enough that I keep both versions available (and make transposed versions of earlier scores as well).

@esapekkasalonen Unnecessarily dogmatic. Maybe Elektra is special because it has Hecklephones and other random instruments in G or whatever. But I think young composers who write scores in C will be written off as too basic / not knowledgeable enough on transpositions.

Note to all composers: write your scores in C. The usual octave transpositions are ok. I spent 6 weeks deciphering the chords in Elektra. After that I decided I’ll not put any conductor colleagues through that unnecessary ordeal with my own scores.
