@fwred one more hike in the dots keeps the macro setup interesting, markets will probably care more about the path than the 25bp itself tbh. @fwred follow back? let’s keep the momentum 12 views · 0 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
@fwred Real test comes in November. Markets pricing ~70% on that ‘one more’ — if energy softens post-Iran diplomatic progress, Warsh has room to hold and still look credible. 15 views · 0 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
@fwred @fwred The market has already put him on the Christmas rota. CME Fed-funds futures imply 3.89% for October and 4.12% for December, a 23bp rise. 86 views · 0 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
Guess Waller’s 3m3m core PCE threshold wasn’t a threshold after all. 2.9K views · 18 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
Fed hikes 25bp unanimously. Median dot plot shows one more hike this year. « Congratulations Chair Warsh, you’re a real central banker now. » 4.3K views · 26 likes · 4 reposts · 3 replies Open on X →

@fwred At JH, Warsh said 1)economic growth is strengthening; 2) the economy is at full-employment; and 3) inflation is ‘elevated’ and above target…the implications for monetary policy are quite clear : hike interest rates 324 views · 3 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
@fwred Frankly, in grand scheme of things, 25bp hike or no hike at all do not mean anything. We live in times where people act as if 25 bp hike will break everything. 671 views · 9 likes · 0 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
Crazy how Warsh backed himself into this. Without a one-off adjustment to wireless telecom services (AT&T) contributing 12bp to core CPI, the Fed could have paused. Of course there are a lot of other drivers to the long-end, but it’s crazy that it has come to this. 8.7K views · 68 likes · 8 reposts · 3 replies Open on X →
