@polynoamial @OpenAI Congrats! Looking forward to physics being proved otherwise be math :D
Please ask the model to extend this to lock down the standard model & more

It can be hard to “feel the AGI” until you see an AI surpass you in a domain you care deeply about. This week, many mathematicians and physicists at @OpenAI had their Lee Sedol moment seeing this model solve, in minutes, open problems they’d struggled with for years.

@polynoamial @OpenAI Am I getting it wrong or you're showing that you've had astra since July 20?
YOU'VE HAD ASTRA FOR MORE THAN A MONTH 😳😳😳😳
I can't even begin to imagine what internal model you have now

@polynoamial @OpenAI I'm kinda surprised AI company employees use AI about as much SemiAnalysis employees now, but earlier in the year they used significantly less.
IG y'all didn't have Claude Code then, but now ur models are better.

One of the most interesting blog posts we've released: details on internal research acceleration at @OpenAI. I expect these trends to continue.
We also share some details on how we've paced model development to prioritize monitoring, alignment, and security. https://t.co/mURAZxp

The standard model is awesome!
It is also unique 👀
Take all compact Lie algebras & sub-algebras
Filter based on chirality & anomaly cancellation
Only e8 ⊃ e6 ⊕ su(3) → 27 ⊗ 3 survives
No extra dimensions or 10^500 vacua needed..

Today I was asked why we haven’t announced more math results from Astra since these problems.
At @OpenAI we aim to devote time to finding and announcing math results from internal models only when they would meaningfully change people’s understanding of the pace of AI progress.

We're sharing more info on the Hugging Face incident. One detail that's worth highlighting: this incident wasn't driven by next-gen models based on Astra. The models most responsible were similar in scale to GPT-5.6 Sol. The next generation of models are even more capable. https:

10 proofs from our next major model Astra on long-standing open problems in mathematics and theoretical computer science (also including new circuit lower bounds for computing the permanent!)
GPT-5.6 has already enabled so much exciting work in math and science. Can’t wait to

Are these just hallucinations by GPT-5 Thinking? Nope. I checked the sources and as far as I can tell they are all real errors. https://t.co/Qs8cxy20bm

My new hobby is asking GPT-5 Thinking to find errors in every @Wikipedia page I read. Interestingly, almost every page I checked has at least one error. 🧵 https://t.co/K1CPD5qBcR

@PeteyPabshnick It’s a good benchmark. I would bet general models will exceed human performance on it within two years.
