It gets worse. I heard a VC found out their portco committed fraud and quietly swept it under the rug by having another portco acquire them at book value.
The VC saves face from the embarrassment of being conned, and is "founder friendly" for not reporting fraud to the DOJ.

The Series A market is broken. I'm seeing companies growing 5-7x YoY with big TAM raising at 10-15x multiples because they're not in the hot narrative.
But narratives rotate all the time. I think there's an opportunity for a new Series A firm to use the Bending Spoons playbook.
