now imagine if I was just half way through recording a two part @Railnatter history of PFI... that might be, let's say, informative here 2.5K views · 16 likes · 3 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →

It's a good job the Conservatives and then Labour cancelled all of those electrification projects. 4.2K views · 138 likes · 14 reposts · 4 replies Open on X →

People claiming Burnham is going to renationalise water & other key services are lying Here's a govt minister explaining that he's actually going to work alongside the private sector in a public private partnership. Does that sound like rolling back the last 40 years? https://t 18.1K views · 367 likes · 173 reposts · 22 replies Open on X →

I suspect this is as much to do with him being very likely to lose his seat to the Greens at the next election as it is about him being a self-serving liar. 2.3K views · 27 likes · 1 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →

without The Bridge, any book like this is incomplete 3.4K views · 22 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →

I very much approve of books like this in school libraries. However, not a single Brunel structure and the Forth Rail Bridge doesn't get a look in 👎 https://t.co/BYITPpjOFa 8.2K views · 6 likes · 0 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →

In 2025, John Edgley (@NetworkRail’s chief engineer of infrastructure and asset strategy) stood up and showed that graph to a conference of engineers. He said the following words, and they should be seen as a stark warning: https://t.co/k2fI9GXmvB 23.3K views · 122 likes · 24 reposts · 6 replies Open on X →

@GarethDennis I do believe a renewal was completed on that same part of the track not long before the accident. The importance of a should is key. Maybe the need for another 20- 30t on ballast was too costly........ 757 views · 1 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →

So that's two for two on track buckles, albeit the one at Lewes is a more complex failure. This is directly attributable to track renewals volumes, which are... tanking. https://t.co/JBjkmvzrLy 4.4K views · 54 likes · 5 reposts · 5 replies Open on X →

Even in the picture they have included, there are NO ballast shoulders. If I was inspecting this section of track, I'd have stopped trains long before this point. Which really begs the question what pressure was being applied to local teams to convince them this was okay. 3.9K views · 59 likes · 7 reposts · 7 replies Open on X →

"The driver reported seeing a kink in the track which rocked the driving cab as the train passed over it." 22.4K views · 198 likes · 11 reposts · 3 replies Open on X →

We’re investigating https://t.co/4QT37eDe51 after the rearmost vehicle of a passenger train derailed near Wickford, Essex, 14 August 2026. The train remained upright throughout with no reported injuries to the 62 people estimated to be on board. #Derailment #Wickford #Essex 53.5K views · 125 likes · 21 reposts · 5 replies Open on X →
