Talked about this with @Sirupsen at AIE main stage, here: https://t.co/4RitI3VYHz 13.7K views · 17 likes · 2 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
@GergelyOrosz Can confirm. I've been seeing tons of stockouts on GCP recently. Even in west, where they're supposed to have plenty. 1K views · 9 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
One really "silent" trend that very, very few people talk about (because it only impacts Head of Infra type folks): a CPU shortage that's becoming more apparent for mid-sized and above companies. It's not dramatic, just harder to reserve the CPUs you want with cloud providers 67.9K views · 516 likes · 21 reposts · 45 replies Open on X →
@GergelyOrosz Agreed, and 2 obvious options: 1. Build and manage your own cloud agent infra 2. Use a pre-built solution Devin has been building Cloud Agents for >2 years, and is the most mature / advanced cloud agent platform atm 9.9K views · 33 likes · 1 reposts · 4 replies Open on X →
@GergelyOrosz Yes, after switching to Orbs in Amp it now honestly feels yucky to have agents running locally. And once the friction of local dev is gone (there *is* friction, but you only notice when it's gone) you just launch a lot more agents. Completely different game. Tried 3.2K views · 45 likes · 0 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
@GergelyOrosz Which harness are you using? In codex you can tell the agent to use the in app browser. In my own case I use a dedicated mac mini that does the grunt work and can tap in via remote sessions so your own machine can stay clean 10.1K views · 54 likes · 1 reposts · 8 replies Open on X →
I am increasingly annoyed by agents running locally, launching stuff (browser windows, apps etc) while I'm trying to work, interfering with my own desktop This stuff needs to live either in a VM, or probably the cloud. I want to kick it off and not distract me! 245.6K views · 2.2K likes · 42 reposts · 439 replies Open on X →
Assuming AI agents like the below one go mainstream what happens: 1. These AI agents generate 10x or more email volume, machine gunning emails to companies/humans to try and get what they want 2. Said companies eventually either ignore email, or set up an AI to deal with it… 126.7K views · 399 likes · 16 reposts · 51 replies Open on X →
I don't have the exact recipe on how to do this (everyone I know does it different) but 100% true that those who have this "network of trusted ppl in tech" (often outside of {current team} / {current company}): they seem to make pretty good major decisions vs those who don't. 31.7K views · 385 likes · 7 reposts · 17 replies Open on X →
I cannot stress how important it is to build a network of people in the same industry as you that you feel comfortable bouncing ideas with. Find your people. 35.1K views · 68 likes · 6 reposts · 5 replies Open on X →
When it comes to writing w AI, there’s such a cognitive dissonance between the person writing vs those reading. Those writing: “AI saves so much effort! And it’s much better vs what I’d have written! People will think I’m so articulated.” Those reading: “WTH is this AI slop?!!” 49K views · 842 likes · 56 reposts · 67 replies Open on X →
The second startup with kickass engineers in two weeks who sent over an eng blog post about a cool thing they built that is... TERRIBLE Because it is 95% or more AI A punishment to read. Half the thing not defined when you put in the effort to parse the overcomplicated 53.3K views · 505 likes · 14 reposts · 33 replies Open on X →
@GergelyOrosz @AntithesisHQ @WorkOS "Built to fit how agents operate" is a claim you can test now. WorkOS on AgentBoard: D, 38/100. llms.txt, MCP endpoint, and machine-readable pricing all pass, which is top quartile for what I've crawled. To those asking “could have this been regulation?” Unlikely I worked at Uber when regulation forced Uber out from markets First, regulation makes the news first. Second, exit happens in weeks/months, not midday, zero heads up and warning. Also, 2 counties at once? 34.5K views · 161 likes · 3 reposts · 3 replies Open on X →
@GergelyOrosz Could there have been some legality which required an immediate shutdown? I.e. if they had done an orderly wind down, they would have been further violating some regulation or law? 53.9K views · 47 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
More details from the BBC. They did the same in Uganda The “how” I cannot get my head around. Nigeria was one of Uber’s first markets in Africa, to exit such a longtime market seemingly so carelessly is the shocker 145K views · 1.2K likes · 46 reposts · 14 replies Open on X →
Exiting a market is understandable and Uber has done it many times before. Each time, it gave a few weeks of heads up, then shut down, paid drivers + offboarded, closed operations No idea why it would not follow the “usual” playbook Suggests it will never go back 114.3K views · 1.5K likes · 39 reposts · 8 replies Open on X →
@GergelyOrosz A friend of mine said they were on a ride when they got the message. She told the driver and he said “it’s a lie!”. The drivers who depend on it for livelihood had absolutely no idea 48.4K views · 758 likes · 7 reposts · 6 replies Open on X →
Ok, THIS is wild, never expected anything like this: Uber exited Nigeria… no warning, just shut down the app, on the spot. When riders were mid-trip ?!! This is what a startup that just went bankrupt would do, not a $150B corporation. Uber operated in Nigeria since 2014 (!!) 1.3M views · 14.8K likes · 1.2K reposts · 174 replies Open on X →

"There's a satisfaction [to onboarding a junior eng] that you can't get from talking to Claude." When will more of the industry re-discover a big reason we hired interns and new grads? It wasn't because they were productive on day one. And yet they help teams from day one... 35.7K views · 535 likes · 19 reposts · 19 replies Open on X →
Best part of my week has been onboarding a junior out of college. There’s a satisfaction to that you can’t get from talking to Claude 38.7K views · 32 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
The Uber rapture is wild! Drivers and riders were mid-trip when it happened. Insane! 2.8M views · 10.4K likes · 1K reposts · 85 replies Open on X →
Also, local models seem inevitable. I want to be able to run a “good enough” model on my laptop, or even on my phone, and not depend on paying for an API that changes prices in ways I don’t control. AI labs will hate this idea of the future, cloud providers will love it tho. 46.8K views · 723 likes · 27 reposts · 65 replies Open on X →
@AntithesisHQ @WorkOS Clearly, @linear needs no intro: thrilled to have them on! Uncompromising, cares about speed, craft, and helping teams + agents develop delightful products. Hard to name a startup that doesn't use them: and larger companies are starting to move, too https: 3.2K views · 8 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
@AntithesisHQ I love + use @WorkOS, a longtime sponsor - auth, SSO, SCIM and fine-grained authorization (FGA). Designed not just for humans, but also built to fit how agents operate. Anthropic, OpenAI, Cursor, and Perplexity (and many others) all use it. https://t.co/WQhVmF7L7y 2.8K views · 10 likes · 1 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
And @AntithesisHQ remains our season sponsor: A radically new approach to finding bugs: Antithesis wraps your system and runs it inside a hostile simulation. It finds (most) bugs, and gives a perfect reproduction of steps. Mind-blowingly magical. https://t.co/Xjhkf6Dedt htt 2.7K views · 7 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
Excited to share that @turbopuffer is the presenting sponsor for The Pragmatic Engineer Podcast, for the fall: It all started by @Sirupsen telling Cursor he can reduce their database bill by 95%... and he did (!!) @GergelyOrosz Yup. It's an economic phenomenon discovered in the early 1800s. https://t.co/1z5odAfr5R 1.5K views · 11 likes · 1 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
And don’t get me wrong, Meta and everyone else can easily build a chat product with AI, even with a dev and /goal and a large token bill It just won’t be GOOD It won’t have workflows that “just work.” UX where users aren’t confused.
