@datingbyblaine Sorry, I'm on “team dude” for this one.
Early is on time; and on time is late!
And, when you are already running late, you acknowledge it immediately and apologize.
Manners DO matter.
At least they did at one time in society.😏

@datingbyblaine She wasn't even in a car yet and didn't offer an immediate apology? She's a jerk.

Single girlfriend in NYC's text exchange with a Raya match. This is tough...
In her defense, 15 minutes isn't crazy late for NYC. The guy's texts also invite drama. You're already at the table, why not wait and see how she reacts in-person, then decide whether you're still https

New matchmaking milestone: the New York Post covers your client's relationship launch.
Flexing with permission from the happy couple. Yes, we set them up 🥰

Matchmaking intake from a woman in NYC, 23, 5’10, absurdly pretty girl-next-door.
“Turn my brain off” and "put me in my soft feminine" made me smile bc:
• 1/3 of my clients want intellectual equals and would hate this
• 1/3 of my clients want tradwives and would love this http

August is always my second biggest month for new matchmaking clients. Guys wrap up summer travel and think, "Wish I had a girlfriend to do that with..."
Can you guess which month is #1?

Not closing the deal boiled down to:
— My life is easy without outside investors
— My life would be harder with outside investors
It took me months to realize that, and for everyone involved’s sake, I’m sorry I didn’t see the light sooner.

It’s become fashionable to roast him on X, and he 100% looks like Rachel Maddow in those photos, but…
I can’t say enough good things about Mark Cuban.
Mark is down to earth, easy to work with, shockingly accessible, super smart, and funny.
He cares about his entrepreneurs,

My response to r/sharktank:
1. I can ask for any valuation I want. Suck it.
2. Confirmed, I’m not outstanding with numbers. I’m a dating coach and matchmaker, not an accountant. Who wants to hire a dating coach who’s preoccupied with margins, anyway?!
3. Pretty privilege

Anyway, I’ve never talked about this publicly but…
I didn’t close the deal with Mark.
This was not intentional!!
Expecting to close the deal, I spent tens of thousands of dollars on legal fees, plus months of my focus, hoping to make things work.

My performance got ROASTED on Reddit. The complaints were basically:
1. My valuation was too high
2. I didn’t know my numbers
3. Pretty privilege drives my success

On set, I’m nervous AF, and black out most of filming. What I remember is:
— The guest Shark, Michael Rubin, wanted NOTHING to do with me
— Kevin wanted to invest, and I knew I didn't want that
— Barbara hooked up my deal up with Mark
You film for 40 minutes, and there are NO

Immediately after filming wraps, my producer steers me to a private room.
A psychologist checks in on me.
Before filming, I would have dismissed the idea of speaking with a psychologist.
After filming, I understand why ABC requires it, and it’s a nice touch.
Frankly everyone

The next part is boring, so fast forwarding…
When you apply for Shark Tank, you submit TONS of paperwork, including bank statements, and do multiple rounds of interviews.
I jump through the hoops, and in mid-March my producers say, “We’ll be in touch.”

I forget about Shark Tank until May 2023 when…
My producer calls, and invites me to LA to film!
He clarifies that filming ≠ appearing on the show.
I book a flight, and start preparing.

The big day arrives, I land in LA, and Uber to the Sheraton the entrepreneurs are staying at.
I’m told to be 100% ready — hair and makeup — in the lobby at 6am the next morning to film.
In the morning, the other entrepreneurs filming and I pile into a big white van to drive to

A Shark Tank producer sees the article, emails, and asks to chat.
I obviously agree, if with tempered excitement.
My services and products are digital, and my business doesn’t need working capital, so the fit isn’t obvious.
The producer encourages me to apply to Shark Tank

If you're new here, I’m Blaine, and I’m a dating coach and matchmaker for men.
In January 2023, I get a lucky break when the NYT writes about my texting course.
It's a program that teaches men to text women without sounding weird or creepy 🙏

Since ABC re-ran my Shark Tank episode last night…
For the first time ever, here’s the story behind:
🦈 My Shark Tank appearance
🤕Why Reddit roasted me to hell for it
💰 My deal with Mark Cuban
Heads up, ABC makes you sign an enormous NDA before appearing on the show, so… https:/
