Congratulations UK plan to reduce the frequent ADHD misdiagnosis caused by its being tied to getting services. Stepped Diagnosis: ADHD dx/stimulant rx should be last resort after everything else tried/not first reflex. Wrong diagnoses can haunt for life. https://t.co/1OAhb2WMZG 5.1K views · 65 likes · 21 reposts · 10 replies Open on X →

Why is ADHD wildly overdiagnosed? 1)inattention is part of all psych disorders 2)fuzzy boundary with normal 3)internet self-diagnosis 4)missing context- chaotic schools/family stress/substance use 5)diagnosing adults with no child onset 6)seeking stimulants for recreation/resale 6.4K views · 117 likes · 26 reposts · 13 replies Open on X →

Not your grandfather's pot- THC levels are way up: 1970s 2%/90s 5%/now 25%/some preps 75%. Awful result: Marked increase in pot-induced psychosis/panic/addiction/hyperemesis All street drugs are now an order of magnitude more dangerous/must be in every differential diagnosis. 4.1K views · 69 likes · 24 reposts · 8 replies Open on X →

Teenage personality diagnosis is usually wrong: 1)Short track record doesn't accurately predict future 2)Rapid developmental changes 3)Context factors- family/school/peer/romantic stress 4)Substance use 5)Teenage angst/instability/impulsivity No benefits/lots of harms & stigma. 2.9K views · 78 likes · 14 reposts · 4 replies Open on X →

Traditionally considered a relatively harmless drug, cannabis increasingly is being linked to psychosis—to the point that a new study suggests cannabis-associated psychosis may be a distinct condition. 🔗👇 https://t.co/XbQRYraQcD

Freud's last paper 'Analysis Terminable & Interminable' warned against risk of people becoming dependent on treatment as a substitute for life. He recommended termination & return later only as needed. 6.6K views · 101 likes · 11 reposts · 3 replies Open on X →
