'@NASA has now released a photograph taken minutes later, by @astro_reid with a shorter exposure.
We can now see how the Sun illuminates the limb of the Earth. The Apollo 12 crew witnessed bands of colour here, during a similar moment in 1969.

Ah - Exif data available and actually shows:
22mm (so the 14-24mm lens) and 1/4s at 50k ISO
The photo is the dark side of Earth, and the first (Apollo 17) image is 'day' side. In the new image you can see zodiacal light at the bottom right as Earth eclipsed the Sun!

We're yet to receive full info on the second image. They took two Nikon D5s and eventually got a Z9 on the manifest. It will have been taken with the 80-400mm lens.

Ref the first image - it was taken with a Hasselblad 70mm camera & 80mm lens, from 18,000 n. miles.
Know as the Blue Marble, it's the most viewed and reproduced photograph in history. It was remastered (for the first time ever) from the original flight film, for my book in 2022.
