We debate about data centers, benefits of AI etc. But this is what it’s about here.
Open Athena doing a massive 535B run, in the open. We’re so early, seeing scientific open source models is exciting.

Majority of people are for data centers.
Those against, like DSA, are louder. We should be out in these communities educating people daily.
35k construction jobs. 2,500 permanent jobs.
A great opportunity for blue collar workers.

🚨 “The majority of people are for it.”
Piketon, Ohio’s mayor tells @cvpayne that despite organized opposition, most locals support the massive AI project promising 35,000 construction jobs and up to 2,500 permanent jobs. https://t.co/Io7bcou2yz

@OfficialBBrooks Are you being paid to post this? Data centers create virtually ZERO jobs for local rural Americans. Most functions are fully automated. And the construction crews come in from out of town, then leave after the project is finished. Seriously what jobs do you think

A lot of people are questioning the jobs created, temporary Vs permanent etc. Here is a detailed report out of Ohio that you might find interesting.

Bad messaging.
Data centers create jobs for rural Americans that have been forgotten / left behind
Data centers train local workers, pay them and place them for employment
Data centers can potentially eliminate income taxes, put more $ in your pocket.

🚨WATCH: Loudoun County resident defends the data centers powering his community:
“Data centers are about economic opportunity—American jobs, American innovation, American investment and, ultimately, national security.”

As ive said for years now, @brian_armstrong is correct here but there is nuance. The battle will be with politicians who frame this as protecting their constituents.

I think it’s time to revisit the accredited investor laws in the US.
Companies are staying private longer, where only accredited investors (aka rich people!) can invest. Retail investors can only come in after IPO, when much of the upside has already been captured.
These rules

One of my top priorities as Chairman of the @SECGov is to "Make IPOs Great Again" through three essential pillars:
✅ Simplifying & scaling disclosure requirements
✅ De-politicizing shareholder meetings
✅ Reforming the litigation landscape https://t.co/oVjAUQCiGM

As I’ve said … 👇
It’s asinine how long these companies are staying private, withholding opportunities from the public and creating a liquidity crunch for LPs, it all flows downhill eventually.

If ServiceTitan -- an unprofitable SaaS company -- manages to have an oversubscribed IPO, please tell me again why it's "the markets" that are stopping VC-backed unicorns from going public?

@OfficialBBrooks It's so true. For example, All Sarbanes-Oxley really achieved was an increase in the cost of being public. We didn't need more laws - Enron, etc. already broke many laws. If anything we needed less laws and more enforcement of the laws that remained.

Last year when testifying before Congress I mentioned the need for IPO reforms.
Startups are staying private longer than ever and large M&A is essentially closed with deals being blocked.
It's more important than ever that we give the public the opportunity to get involved ht
