One of my most fav balls in tests by a fast bowler is from Gough.
Mark Waugh's wicket in 1997 Birmingham Test. After the release one could you see it's shaping away from 5th stump line, but then after it pitched it nipped back, went through the gate and hit the stumps. Pearler!

Only 90s kids will remember England's ultimate strike bowler.
He became England's first and foremost exponent of reverse swing and a fine changer of pace. He was the ultimate team catalyst, helping others play above themselves.
Darren Gough turns 56 today 🎈 🏴 https://t.c

Will the batters agree to bat on a 18-19 yard pitch if the boundaries are only 50 odd meters long ?

@BishOnTheRockx Clever from Jadeja., de Jorzi plays sweep on the first ball. Jadeja anticipates his plan and bowls shorter and quicker. De jorzi surprised, caused bat pad. Test cricket is a beast 😎

In the coming days, we'll see a lot of power hitting. Often a power hitter jams his front foot on the ground & creates a strong base while targeting over mid-on to deep fine leg. And then the hip rotates, bat swing takes over.
A thread on this power hitting method.

Like many other professional sports, cricket too has its own share of coded signal systems to send feedback or to make it work as a messaging system between players.
A thread on these signals.

I was watching Sachin's knock against AUS at Kolkata from the 1998 BGT and realized that during the knock Sachin decided that he needed to take the "bat down" approach after facing a few balls from Gavin Robertson.

This is counterattack at its very best in the face of adversities. An all-timer and easily one of the greatest knocks in the history of 50 over CWCs.
A thread on that Aravinda classic at Kolkata from the 1996 world cup semifinal.

I've grown up listening to Richie Benaud's cricket commentary. Adored the way he respect the value of pause, never trying to steal a moment, always being subtle, dignified and measured.
But this thread is about his amazing ability to read the game and tell us.

Wanted to write something on Brian Lara's incredible talent of having the luxury of playing multiple shots on one particular ball and his ability that enabled him to switch to anyone one of them as per his liking and execute it to perfection.

First thread of the year. Hope it doesn’t turn out to be a boring one.
This is a tip shared by Duncan Fletcher to Kevin Pietersen on “The Guardian” when Pietersen was failing badly during RSA tour in 2009/10.
This thread is about batter's extravagant knee bend.

Few days ago, a six hit by Bavuma was widely talked about on social media. Both feet up – absolute spectacle. While watching the highlights of his inning I realized that he has brought a technical change in his batting.
This is a thread about that technical change.

It’s one of my favorite overs bowled in ODI cricket. This is Shoaib vs Ponting duel at Gabba from 2002. This was the first over Shoaib bowled in that match and got Ponting clean bowled with an inswinger on the 6th ball of that over.
A thread on that.

For years Zaheer Khan has mesmerized us with his repertoire and skillset. One of the less talked about thing about his bowling is - how he mixed up his other variations with the reverse swing to make it even more challenging to pick for a batter.

Malcolm Marshall was one of the earliest exponents of Reverse swing. This thread is about one of his overs from Faisalabad test in 1990 where he used seam movements and then brought reverse swing just at the right moment. (And a bit more about the non-striker)

At the start of the new millennium, Waqar suddenly found a new mojo in his bowling. The last year of the previous millennium wasn’t that good. There're controversies, sitting out and what not. Then something changed in his loading technique.
