@ChrisNowinski1 The announcers are probably doing what the NFL has instructed. Talk about anything besides head injury. Divert the attention away from scene. Praying Reed is alright. 2.8K views · 20 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →

@ChrisNowinski1 There are a ton of stupid announcers out there . 7K views · 19 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
Jayden Reed hit was bad. Arms went limp, suggesting an injury to his central nervous system, either spine or brain (concussion). Hoping for the best possible outcome. Unsettling hearing the announcer talking about ball possession while Reed isn't moving. https://t.co/1JMnbTL0I2

CTE is in the news this week, and it's not just an NFL problem. All contact sport athletes exposed to repetitive head impacts are at risk. Parents & coaches, please check our our CTE education and risk reduction fact sheets co-branded with @nata1950 https://t.co/DxuYqU4OYH https: 5.6K views · 100 likes · 43 reposts · 6 replies Open on X →
I’ve seen the devastation CTE can cause firsthand, from speaking with families whose loved ones were affected to watching former teammates and friends suffer from this disease. I’m committed to learning more about CTE, advancing research, and ultimately working toward a cure for 5K views · 62 likes · 20 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
Hobey Baker may have had CTE, a new study suggests. The Hobey Baker Award is given annually to the top NCAA male hockey player. Baker played football and ice hockey at Princeton before serving in WWI as a pilot. He died at 26 when he crashed his plane. https://t.co/MVJyoUPTEH 41.9K views · 51 likes · 7 reposts · 4 replies Open on X →

@ChrisNowinski1 @bmj_latest @bu_cte @MassGenBrigham @ConcussionCTEfn Is calling it a degenerative brain disease truly accurate if you can't diagnose CTE in a living person? How do we know it's progressing? how do we know it goes from Stage 1/2 to Stage 3/4? 246 views · 4 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
@ChrisNowinski1 @bmj_latest @bu_cte @MassGenBrigham @ConcussionCTEfn Hi @ChrisNowinski1 this has troubled me like it should everyone but I also can’t help but think , is anyone studying just random people who didn’t play years of football? Is there any studies focused on those p 211 views · 2 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
New study in @bmj_latest: Among NFL players who died between 2016 and 2021, at least 25%, and as many as 98%, had CTE. From @bu_cte, @MassGenBrigham, and @ConcussionCTEfn. https://t.co/P6ZcgL6wu7 https://t.co/BCFvvmFUcb 50.6K views · 149 likes · 62 reposts · 10 replies Open on X →

@ChrisNowinski1 @ConcussionLF @DanDaneshvar @rdz12135 @PatMcAfeeShow This is some really cool work, Chris. And I honestly didn't realize you were a former wwe wrestler before I saw a video that mentioned you and I've been following for years on here 2.3K views · 5 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
I regret not identifying SHAAKE sooner. Tua displayed it in 2022 in the game where they concluded his fall was due to a back injury. If they knew SHAAKE was a concussion 92% of the time in football players, I think they keep him out of the Thursday game. https://t.co/dh5Yi2rFWE 8.4K views · 37 likes · 8 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
Here is a link to the full study. I am hopeful sports & medical organizations add it to their potential signs of concussion immediately. But be vigilant! Can happen on the field, the bench, the locker room & more. More studies to come. https://t.co/daHK3yQUVu 9.2K views · 50 likes · 12 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
I am kicking myself for not realizing this sooner. SHAAKE has been depicted in movies, TV & cartoons my entire life. I even performed SHAAKE as a WWE pro wrestler. Here are some examples from Rocky, The Simpsons, Tom & Jerry, Christmas Vacation, & more. https://t.co/BVFD2fQOYV 6.9K views · 48 likes · 7 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
In our study, SHAAKE had a positive predictive value of 72%, so 3 out of 4 times you see it, it's due to concussion symptoms. Top 2 symptoms were: 1. Disorientation/confusion (25%) 2. A feeling like you needed to jumpstart your brain (23%) Press release: https://t.co/RClHiXQ9xH 8K views · 43 likes · 11 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
Here are 5 examples of SHAAKE we used in the study, which surveyed 347 athletes, average age 27, asking if they'd made the motion & what they were experiencing when they did it. 69% had made the motion, with 93% them displaying a SHAAKE due to experiencing #concussion symptoms. h 9.4K views · 91 likes · 17 reposts · 3 replies Open on X →
Excited to announce that colleagues & I have identified a new #concussion sign that's been hiding in plain sight. We named it Spontaneous Headshake After a Kinematic Event, or SHAAKE. Seen in movies & cartoons, it hasn't been in protocols, but should be. https://t.co/KinGopbJiU h 370.4K views · 809 likes · 185 reposts · 29 replies Open on X →
