@ProfLAppleby Spot on. It's not remotely progressive and actuallyderives from an extreme libertarian standpoint - that personal autonomy and the rights of the individual always trump the common good and the needs of the vulnerable. Labour should have had nothing to do with it.

A tactic of the #AssistedDying campaign was to imply a progressive inevitability. Linking it to past liberal causes & AD in other countries.
Some commentators bought into this.
But there’s nothing progressive in giving up on care or in the state creating a service to end lives.

@ProfLAppleby @Francis_Hoar Covid Response by the HoC was the biggest blow to mental health ever, and it’s persistent, so they can spare me the lip service and emotional manipulation (by Javid too, Minister for Health). They remain despicable.
