@ssbm_dright I don't really see why that couldn't/wouldn't happen. Smash has always used 3D models, they just chose not to slow them to move in that extra axis when actually fighting.
They could also change the fights to area style battles like we saw in the Kirby trailer... http

The parallels became so obvious I managed to convince myself during the direct that Kirby's sword was going to change into The Master Sword during this one part, thus confirming this was a Kirby transformation of the new Young Link design. He's even making link noises afterwards!
