@TorstenBell You seem to have forgotten the Labour Government 1997 -2010 inherited budget SURPLUS of 2% and left Government with DEFICIT of 8%. Did you support faster reduction of the Deficit and less spending on COVID and gas support.

The steps that have delivered those cuts in borrowing (and indeed NHS waiting lists) have real impacts, I'm not denying that.
But don’t believe anyone who pretends to care about the public finances but opposes every tax rise that cutting waiting lists and borrowing has required.
