@Mr_Husky1 I used to work in a community for people in exactly that situation. The state steps in here in the US, although it’s not great insurance by any means. If the facility/community doesn’t accept state insurance, the person must move to one that does. If no one visits…we 3.5K views · 129 likes · 0 reposts · 3 replies Open on X →

@Mr_Husky1 In my mother's case, we were promised when she moved into independent living, which evolved into assisted living, that they would not kick her out if she ran out of money. She didn't run out of money, but she became so forgetful that she wouldn't push her button for he 3.2K views · 95 likes · 4 reposts · 5 replies Open on X →

@Mr_Husky1 It should be taboo to ever move anyone to a Death Home. Yes, that's what they are, a Death Home. All of them. Leave your loved ones in their own homes. Move them to the first floor if they have multiple levels. Put the property in L/E or a trust so no one loses anythin 8.9K views · 137 likes · 1 reposts · 19 replies Open on X →

What happens to elderly people in nursing homes when the money runs out and there's nobody left? No spouse. No children. No relatives. No friends checking in. No one coming to visit. Just a person who spent decades working, raising families, paying bills, surviving hardships, 280.4K views · 1.4K likes · 141 reposts · 616 replies Open on X →

The female human body is one of the most remarkable biological systems on Earth. Things it can do that the male body cannot: • Create an entirely new organ from scratch — the placenta • Build a human skeleton, organ by organ, cell by cell • Release eggs through ovulation • 806 views · 33 likes · 5 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →

A flash flood hit Jakarta. Streets turned into rivers. Traffic stopped. People scrambled to get out of the water. A motorbike courier, already running late on his deliveries, saw an elderly woman stranded in the flood. He parked his bike, lifted her onto his back, and carried 1.9K views · 7 likes · 1 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →

One of my favorite movie nerd exercises: The best film released in every year I've been alive (my list, not objective truth): 1991 — The Silence of the Lambs 1992 — Unforgiven 1993 — Schindler's List 1994 — The Shawshank Redemption 1995 — Heat 1996 — Trainspotting 1997 — Good 3.2K views · 9 likes · 2 reposts · 6 replies Open on X →

Unpopular opinion: Introverts spend their entire lives being told to "come out of their shell." Go out more. Talk more. Network more. Be more social. Be more outgoing. Apparently personal growth only counts if you're acting like an extrovert. But I've never seen anyone pull 2.6K views · 57 likes · 5 reposts · 4 replies Open on X →

Marriage was never meant to be a retirement plan. A healthy marriage isn't built on one person carrying the weight while the other simply benefits from it. If men are expected to provide, protect, lead, support, stay loyal, and shoulder responsibility when things get hard, then 3K views · 13 likes · 2 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →

@Mr_Husky1 I can only speak of my own mistake. I learned that to have a beautiful yard, I had to work every weekend in it to keep it up, my cars run because I maintain them changing the oil, tune ups, kids become good people because we teach then and teach them sports they become 22.5K views · 262 likes · 22 reposts · 9 replies Open on X →

Divorce is one of the strangest things human beings go through. Imagine spending 20+ years with someone. Sharing a bed, a home, a bank account, inside jokes, routines, dreams, and disappointments. You raise children together. Survive sleepless newborn nights. Navigate 1.7M views · 11.5K likes · 1K reposts · 693 replies Open on X →

@Mr_Husky1 You got the date wrong but, the story is absolutely true and bravely amazing! Phyllis "Pippa" Latour Doyle (8 April 1921 – 7 October 2023) was one of the bravest and most effective female agents of Britain's Special Operations Executive (SOE) during World War II.
