The response we think fits: freeze new size first. No added exposure while the number driving everyone's PnL is guesswork, and liquidations wait for a recovery window rather than firing off a mark nobody can defend.

So we think staleness deserves its own trigger, not a footnote inside the liquidation rule. If the mark input is unverifiable or older than the window a system trusts, that is an inspectable condition a margin engine can actually check.

A resolution source answers a question at the end. Unrealised PnL needs an answer between trades, on a tape that can go quiet for hours. Borrowing the resolution answer for the interim mark is where margin gets sloppy.
