@mgtmccartney Totally agree My question, as always, is where are the Colleges and if they don’t speak up about this issue (and many others in the same vein) what’s the point of them anymore? 977 views · 38 likes · 5 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
Is pharmacists want to do this the shops should be forbidden from selling all non evidenced medicinal-adjacent products. 4.8K views · 96 likes · 13 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
Where are the RCTs showing benefit and safety ? What about worse use of antibiotics? What about missed and wrong diagnosis? What about the nonsense sold for ‘minor illness’ that has no benefit? What about the degration of continuity that costs more and makes care poorer quality? 6.6K views · 141 likes · 24 reposts · 6 replies Open on X →
Basically this is nuts. GPs train for medical school, postgraduate education, further exams, then ongoing forever learning. We learn how to distinguish between common causes and rare ones. It is ferociously hard. This sort of nonsense degrades expertise and safety: : 118.2K views · 857 likes · 262 reposts · 44 replies Open on X →
We've all been there. You wake up feeling unwell, try to get an appointment, and before you know it half the day has disappeared. When you're sick, the last thing you should be worrying about is how you're going to get the help you need. That's why we're expanding Pharmacy 991.1K views · 3.7K likes · 335 reposts · 3.8K replies Open on X →
this is really terrible reporting @HannahMargBrown . All GPs are trained at medical school and then as postgrads and then have ongoing education. There are dozens, dozens of ways that GPs know about menstrual issues and dozens more they keep up to date. This makes it look like/ 11.6K views · 101 likes · 9 reposts · 5 replies Open on X →
EXC: Just 51 Scottish GPs have completed a national menstrual health course. 51 out of 4,688. 1.1%. Women's health campaigners call it “genuinely shocking”. Ministers say a call for mandatory training not “practical or achievable”. For @heraldscotland https://t.co/MHB8N2BHzv 19.2K views · 48 likes · 34 reposts · 17 replies Open on X →
v glad to see this coming out. Ken McGinley was a neighbour of mine, growing up. His fortitude, dignity, care, determination totally inspirational: he showed me correspondence, vast files, never gave up, kept finding other ways. https://t.co/7ziVX0BTni https://t.co/HgrHyGZczk 1.7K views · 8 likes · 4 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →

@mgtmccartney @devisridhar I think you might be understating the point. The evidence in relation to routine health checks is in fact quite strong and it *convincingly* shows that health checks are useless. 1.8K views · 57 likes · 5 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
the point about finding things is being able to effectively do something about it. Increasing incidence of detected risk factors does not necessarily equate to reducing morbidity and mortality. 2.4K views · 53 likes · 2 reposts · 3 replies Open on X →
hi @devisridhar the evidence for 'health checks' is poor. I am struggling to know why you are uncritically recommending this as a public health intervention. The 'MOT' argument is highly questionable. https://t.co/cN6e0DJWs8 37.5K views · 158 likes · 34 reposts · 19 replies Open on X →
