Fwiw academia has always played a critical role in third party accountability & AI auditing - challenges abound but the commitment to publication and peer review also incentivizes some degree of rigor & public engagement (we write a bit about that here: https://t.co/xtjMeTt9yW) 1.4K views · 20 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →

I applaud this but any mature audit ecosystem has *auditor conduct standards*. Was surprised to learn a METR investigator for the HF/OpenAI incident is married to an OpenAI board member, many access contracts are highly constrained etc. PCAOB in accounting exists for good reason! 13.1K views · 192 likes · 24 reposts · 12 replies Open on X →

"That's a smokescreen. You shouldn't be paying attention to that. We need to be paying attention to the actual things we can do to, for example, prevent agents swarms from taking over entire data centers."....wait, what? https://t.co/QAxXaYuhGb

I still don't understand studies asking large language models to "explain their own reasoning"; it's like asking a five year old to explain itself and then taking the response seriously. 6.8K views · 116 likes · 12 reposts · 13 replies Open on X →
