When the American Public Health Association and "123 public health and health policy deans..." signed a letter asserting that the "Utah Review" was a systematic review proving youth gender transitions safe & effective, SEGM investigated. We found another broken chain of trust. /1 2.8K views · 59 likes · 23 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →

@segm_ebm @wesyang No one in the work of producing and maintaining clinical guidelines (used to shape care decisions) in USA would agree with WPATH on the now ‘new’ legal stance they are taking to try to escape liability w FTC and other entities. @segm_ebm The John Hopkins study was suppressed and the Tavistock records were made unavailable. I think there's a pattern here. 473 views · 51 likes · 3 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →

@segm_ebm The fact that WPATH actively tried to stop the release of the John Hopkins study shows criminal negligence to me. But there are other deceitful players like the head of Harvard Medical who presented messy Tawani Foundation "survey" data as a "clinical study" to support 209 views · 27 likes · 1 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →

WPATH's SOC-8 recommendations for puberty blockers and hormones for gender-dysphoric youth hinged on one key assertion: that a systematic review of outcomes for adolescents was "not possible" and therefore WPATH's expert opinion represented the best available evidence. WPATH now admits that youth gender medicine is marked by "medical and scientific uncertainty" with 2 alternative paths to care for gender-dysphoric youth: WPATH's medicalized vs the Cass-aligned non-invasive one. Yet for 10+ years, doctors have been told WPATH's is the only way. 7.6K views · 412 likes · 123 reposts · 9 replies Open on X →

A key post from a @McMasterU scientist who went through a lot just to publish a peer-reviewed paper on the (poor) quality of WPATH Standards of Care 8. The question of how to care for gender-dysphoric youth has been presented by WPATH as settled—until it was challenged in court. 5.3K views · 228 likes · 56 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →

WPATH claims it is “contributing to [medical] debate.” But as someone “contributing to the debate” from the opposite side, I cannot make sense of my experiences if this is merely a debate. Why do my coauthors, I, and many others like us need to overcome anxiety, and, for some, 25.4K views · 366 likes · 102 reposts · 16 replies Open on X →

@segm_ebm Sorry, but you don't get to present yourself as a medical organization (even if you're not), publish a series of documents called "standards of care" (even though they never were), and escape blame when people took you at your word and hurt themselves or others. In what appears to be a desperate move, WPATH favorably quotes the SCOTUS ruling that cleared the path for administering talk therapy aimed at changing homosexual orientation and gender identity (Chiles v. Salazar). WPATH previously strongly objected to both as forms of https://t 13.9K views · 565 likes · 78 reposts · 8 replies Open on X →

SEGM is not a policy-making group. Rather, we communicate with the clinical community, and often have to explain why we do not consider the WPATH Standards of Care to be evidence-based. Our reading of the latest WPATH filing: WPATH's message is that its "Standards of Care" are 23.2K views · 645 likes · 113 reposts · 9 replies Open on X →

To defend itself against the FTC in the federal court, WPATH leans 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐲 on two Supreme Court rulings that under normal circumstances it decries. Leaning on the pro-state-bans Skrmetti ruling, WPATH argues that the states have the right to regulate transgender interventions. While some states exercised their right to ban them—other states likewise have the right to promote transgender interventions for minors, using WPATH 12.4K views · 515 likes · 47 reposts · 3 replies Open on X →

WPATH now says there are two sides to the scientific debate over care for gender-dysphoric youth. On one, the gender-affirming model WPATH promotes.
