Cardiorespiratory fitness is a much stronger factor for health than physical activity.
So when you exercise, make sure that it's vigorous or intense enough to improve your fitness.

Today is the first day of autumn in the northern hemisphere, the autumnal equinox.
This occurs when the earth's axis is perpendicular to the sun and the sun is directly over the equator.
It's the first day of spring in the southern hemisphere. https://t.co/oOAGT8bTvD

If I had a few seconds to tell someone what to do to lose weight and get healthier, the most basic stuff, it would be:
Stop eating processed food
Ditch the sugar, refined grains, and seed oils
Eat real whole food: meat, fish, eggs, fermented dairy, fruit, veg

Muscle loss (sarcopenia) is a major reason why old people go into nursing homes. They become so weak that they can't take care of themselves, not even to get out of a chair.
Resistance training and more protein fix this.

People with a genetic predisposition to bradycardia (very low heart rate) were overrepresented among athletes, meaning "that genetics may be a determinant of athleticism."
Not too surprising: training is not the only factor in athletic success. https://t.co/Gve5CAaf0g

High RDW (red cell diffusion width) is associated with atherosclerosis
Beauty of this is that RDW is a routine measurement on a CBC (complete blood count), so if you get regular labs done, you likely have RDW results already.

"I go to the gym 4 days a week and spend an hour each time, and my results are poor."
That's probably because how much time you spend in the gym is in itself unrelated to results.
It's about how hard you train when you're there.

Bismuth subsalicylate improves GLP-1 production and ameliorates diet-induced metabolic disorder in male mice.
Bismuth subsalicylate is more commonly known as Pepto-Bismol.
Works by inhibiting Desulfovibrio bacteria.

Where I think picking apart studies in health, fitness, or really anything goes wrong is that if something can be of significant benefit, AND it's low risk, then in many cases it should be tried.
Say, creatine, of which I've expressed some skepticism. It is low risk and if

If you're going to post anything that goes against the grain and could conceivably make a difference in the lives of many people, be prepared for a lot of negative responses.
This is just how the world works.

Exercise increases autophagy, which declines with age and is essential for lifespan extension
The autophagic response to exercise is intensity-dependent.
Greater the intensity, the greater the autophagy.
Train hard.

Total body iron (ferritin) is inversely related to serum testosterone.
I've spoken to more than one person who increased his testosterone through blood donation.
A 72-year-old friend has a T level of >1000 donates blood regularly, no TRT.

Exercise improves health by disruption of homeostasis, the process through which the body maintains a stable internal environment.
Disruption is key, and this is highly related to exercise intensity.
In exercise, if you just go through the motions, you won't get the benefit.
