Final bank update (THANK YOU ALL π)
Today/tomorrow I was due to get myself to Lloyds bank, despite the pain it would cause me. However, I rang one last time to try & sort it & spent over an hour on the phone
At first, they kept suggesting banks/banking hubs that were only a

Bit of a bank update:
Iβve put in a written complaint, and also rang and spoke to the bank again. This time I got the kindest lady who really tried to fix what her colleague had done. Unfortunately she didnβt have the ultimate authority to remove the block on my account now

@hatpinwoman Cash is your friend. Take out as much cash as often as the bank will allow you to take out your own money. Get receipts from whoever you pay, of course. It has become our duty to bypass banks if we're not OK with them becoming our masters.

@hatpinwoman This is the point that I write a letter to the bank informing them that I am looking for a new bank and will notify them shortly of which account the funds should be transferred to, but if they write me a grovelling letter of apology and a sum for the time wasted I'l

@hatpinwoman That's insane, I've never heard such a thing! I would withdraw all my money from that bank immediately, open an account elsewhere, redirect all my funds, payments etc there, and report this bank to the Ombudsman for abuse. Also report every bank employee who particip

Long rant that will be interesting to almost no one but Iβm really frustrated
I tried hiring someone to do decorating work for me
He has started the work and heβs efficient, reputable and highly recommended by localsβ¦ but Lloyds Bank nonetheless flagged my first payment to him

I hope Americans know that 25 years on so many of us, in other parts of the world, are still gutted for you that 9/11 happened. And still appalled at the level of suffering on that day, and in the time after it as so many lives were unutterably changed
For the last few days, in

@hatpinwoman And this story is echoed in our experience in Australia, where in the 90s lesbians across Australia raised a quarter of a million dollars to create a lesbian space for ourselves, and it too was destroyed by men who couldn't stand being excluded.

@hatpinwoman Thank you.
I went to Michfest twice from Australia.
It was an overwhelming experience both times.
It is a rare and beautiful experience for women to have a tiny taste of what our lives could be like without the fear that male violence brings to it.

I wrote about Michfest a while ago but never knew quite where to put it or publish it
Now seemed like a really good time to post it here
Especially because it contains some words from other women that I found so moving and so uplifting. I hope you feel the same ππ€π
