OR Tip:
When grabbing the surgical gown, try to avoid grabbing above the collar! This area is actually part of the outside of the gown.

Many factors come together to make a good surgeon.
Like with sports, though some factors are technical, many other factors that contribute to success are mental. These may include attention detail, confidence, intuition, and judgement. https://t.co/DCjYIdvah3

Laparoscopes come in angled varieties that allow the user to see around corners they otherwise wouldn't be able to reach.
Rotating the light source changes the angle of view to be opposite of the direction of the light source.

Laparoscopes function as lenses and are either fixed or zoom focal lengths.
Unlike traditional 📷 lenses, which consist of a series of lenses, laparoscopes use glass rods/fibers that simplify manufacturing and ⬆️ brightness/clarity.
In general, ⬆️ scope diameter = ⬆️ light

The camera head/body often has buttons with functions that differ depending on model and manufacturer.
Common functions include recording, changing the light source output, and setting the white balance.
The buttons should face the sky to keep orientation on the screen

Gel or fiber-optic cables allow the transmission of light from a separate source into an attachment on the laparoscope.
The tip of the light source and laparoscope are areas of significant heat transmission and should not be placed on the patient or drapes!

Much like a traditional 📷, which consists of a 📷 body + lens, a laparoscopic setup consists of a 📷 body, laparoscope (or lens) + light source + monitor
The 📷 body contains a focus wheel and a clamp (black part) that when pressed down, allows for scope attachment. 1/5 https://t.c
