@AdrianSotoMota @LauraBuchananMD @BioMedCentral Great study. But the real question is whether the lower cholesterol improves health or reduces risk. 1K views · 16 likes · 0 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
@BioMedCentral Thank you to the patients who made this possible! https://t.co/L8LRquSKXZ @lipo_fan @JoshJwageman @LauraBuchananMD @DoctorTro @MattCalkinsMD @wakeforestmed @incmnszmx @TecdeMonterrey @UIEMmx Please help us share it 🙏🔄 https://t.co/qHP87TFUeB 1.6K views · 21 likes · 2 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
@BioMedCentral Why? Chronically low insulin may shift the liver toward cholesterol ABSORPTION, not synthesis (via NPC1L1/ABCG5-G8) . Ezetimibe blocks that leg. This could be a useful insight for patients who can't or won't take statins. https://t.co/pcCoSC8kwB 2.6K views · 26 likes · 2 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
@BioMedCentral Maybe high numbers just fall further? Nope. The lower-baseline half of the cohort dropped as steeply as the upper half. Maybe it was the statins? Also nope. 12 of 14 were on ezetimibe ALONE, and there the median drop was still −50.4% (95% CI −56.9 to −38.2). ht 1.9K views · 11 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
@BioMedCentral Only 14 patients? Yes. But these are unusually well documented cases: serial fasting lipid panels, plasma sterol absorption markers, and genetic testing. No pathogenic LDLR, APOB or PCSK9 variants (n=10). No biallelic sitosterolemia. This is NOT undiagnosed 2K views · 13 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
@BioMedCentral Mean follow-up 130 days and, ⬇️LDL-C: 254 → 127 mg/dL (−53.2%, 95% CI −61.1 to −40.9) ⬇️TC: 335 → 200 mg/dL (−38.5%) ⬇️TG: −23% ➡️HDL-C: −1.5% So the low-TG/high-HDL pattern of carb restriction stayed put. Only the LDL-C moved! https://t.co/lnxj9qqtuh 2.3K views · 13 likes · 1 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
@BioMedCentral NO, this is not LMHRs. Because not all patients who adopt a ketogenic diet look alike, not all keto-diet-induced hypercholesterolemia cases are the same. https://t.co/XhGeeCpu2p 2.7K views · 16 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
