Back in 1989 we had a housing crash when the average home cost £60k, just 3.5× earnings. Interest rates were 15% but national debt was only 27% of GDP. Today the average home is £290k, over 8× earnings. Debt is close to 100% of GDP. Rates are 5% yet mortgage arrears are climbing
