On this day 80 years ago my Grandfather, a prisoner of war, Gerald ‘Bill’ Hawkins was released from Changi Jail in Singapore by the Fifth Indian Division. Like most of his fellow prisoners, the lucky ones, he came home emaciated but resilient.God bless them all.
