Monday Ottawa puts two price hikes on you at the same clock. Sept. 8 the 10¢/L federal gasoline excise tax returns. Finance paused it April 20 through Labour Day and priced that pause at “over $2.4 billion.” GST/HST is charged on the federal excise. Ontario 13% × 10¢ = 1.3¢.
