@JamesSuckling High-altitude Malbec is the grape's longest con: it crossed the Andes in 1853 among cuttings for a Mendoza agricultural school, chosen for no special promise anyone recorded. Then a 1956 frost killed ~3/4 of Bordeaux's Malbec at home. France discarded it. Argentina crowned it.
