🧵W/ all due resoect to Ms. Schnabel, the problems of the US free banking era had nothing to do with the lack of a credit-risk free central bank reserve medium. Banks back then, in the U.S. and elsewhere, settled in specie, a medium that was itself perfectly free of credit risk.
