And regarding the effects on sea level.
Well, my opinion: An extra few millimeters per month.

These include cracks that we need to monitor closely, as they indicate that the glacier itself (and not just the glacier tongue) is losing its grip.
We are only just approaching spring, and two major spring tides are still to come! https://t.co/63oTISPKwa

--- Thwaites Glacier ---
To address the many questions regarding the retrograde slope, specifically where the glacier is grounded and where it isn't, how much thinner it is compared to a decade ago, the extent of the influence of warm ocean water, and so on...

@KrVaSt I think it would be helpful for you to explain the results or consequences that may occur rather than just saying it is serious

The attempts to downplay the situation mentioned below are completely unfounded.

The calving front lies just behind the ice shelves that are disintegrating, and as is clearly visible in the 12-day progression, a definitive collapse is underway. https://t.co/lxkPpKG9n4

Important note: The calving front is 200 km long, and along its entire length, it rests on a seabed that lies at least 200 meters below sea level.
In some places, the depth exceeds 800 meters. So, letting yourself be led to believe that it isn't all that bad is foolish.

For those not yet convinced of the seriousness of the calving events, and at the request of a friend, I want to clearly demonstrate that the Thwaites Glacier is making a dangerous move.

@KrVaSt Isn’t that the true Fast Ice, the border between the glacier and the land based ice? But I don’t think that we can say from now on, the glacier is vulnerable.
I think that it’s been undercutting the glacier for at least four years, if not more. Since B-22?

Small update.
The cracks in the middle of the eastern section are our greatest concern. https://t.co/Jgh2EWn2su

Still no new images of our glacier.
In this case, no news is usually bad news.
