You don't have to have been a catcher to know that wild pitches/passed balls are lower in 2026 than they have been since 1984. Knee-down catching is clearly not the disaster for blocking many believe.
42 years since there were fewer combined wild pitches/passed balls, and the

@TheWARmonger_ Just using your eyes you can clearly see there's no way in the world those are the same distance! Look at where Crawford starts vs where PCA starts... I'm sorry but, whatever app you're using is just wrong. 🤷🤦

@TheWARmonger_ The crazy thing about Pete Crow-Armstrong defensively: he and Justin Crawford have almost identical raw speed (96th vs. 95th percentile).
PCA is 100th percentile in defensive range. Crawford is 36th.

It's tough to find similar plays (no two are the same), but here's a visual for you...
Justin Crawford and PCA had to cover the exact same distance in the same time and direction on these plays. And they both have the same top sprint speed.
One looks like a routine catch and h

PCA sprints then glides to snag this Luis Lara liner in the gap without getting his uniform dirty.
55% catch probability on this ball, easily the lowest % ball caught in the Brewers/Cubs game yesterday: https://t.co/KTn1ERTcYV
